After the attacks of September 11, 2001, there was a sharp rise in anti-Muslim sentiment that resulted in hate crimes and assaults against American Muslims and those incorrectly perceived to be Muslim, including Sikhs, Hindus and others. This promo video has been uploaded by the permission of the Japanese American National Museum. This is a promo video for the Japanese American National Museum. On the 11th anniversary of 9/11, the Muslim Public Affairs Council and the Islamic Center of Southern California honored the Japanese American community for their solidarity in protecting the rights of all people. The Japanese American National Museum was one of these honorees. Japanese Americans were first to defend Muslims against any backlash after 9/11. They knew too well the rage and hysteria that can fuel the most heinous crimes against any minority in a country as powerful as the United States.
