High School Muslim Student Associations Emerge as New Targets of Anti-Muslim Hate
Overall Assessment
We assess that the threat of physical attacks against Muslims is ELEVATED. This assessment is based on recent threats to mosques and individuals, Amy Mek's continued focus on Muslims in high schools in Texas, and anti-Islam demonstrations outside mosques.
Note: These incidents only represent threats/attacks that have been reported in the United States. The majority of hate crimes against Muslims are never reported, therefore the true number of hate crimes is likely much higher. We encourage everyone to report every incident, regardless of its size or severity.
Mosques Targted
On August 26, 2026, Louis White, 60, sent a letter to the Islamic Center of Temecula Valley that read, “I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE DAY TO KILL EVERY ONE OF YOU, IT CANNOT COME SOON ENOUGH!” When investigators went to his home, they found an AR-15 style rifle with no serial number. White is in state custody in a Riverside County Jail.
On September 18, 2026, Adam Sawyer, 50, posted a threatening comment on All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) Center’s instagram page. The comment suggested that he intended to bomb the Center. The Center reported the threat to the FBI and Sawyer was arrested on September 19, 2026.

Texas Muslims Remain a Target
Amy Mek has continued targeting Muslim students and Muslim student organizations at high school in Texas.
On September 1, 2026, Mek criticized Wylie East High School for allowing Muslim students to pray Jummah in the gym.
On September 3, 2026, she posted about the Muslim Student Association (MSA) at Plano East Senior High School Friday prayers and called for parents to shut down the MSA.
On September 18, 2026, Mek posted about the MSA at Tomas High School, claiming the organization was carrying out the strategy outlined in the 1991 Muslim Brotherhood Explanatory Memorandum.
On September 20, 2026, she posted about another MSA conducting prayers in a classroom at a high school in Frisco.
On September 22, 2026, Mek posted about someone from James E. Taylor High School converted to Islam which was photographed by the school's MSA.
On September 11, 2026, around 50 people invited by the Lone Star Legionaries demonstrated against Islam outside the Islamic Association of Collin County in Plano. The mosque had notified law enforcement to patrol the area.
MPAC Briefs Dearborn Police Department Amid Rising Muslim Hate
As the election cycle progresses, we have been seeing an increase of threats in Michigan. On September 4, 2026, MPAC traveled to Dearborn, Michigan, to brief the Dearborn Police Department on white supremacist activity in the state. The intelligence provided by MPAC was the first time the Police Department had been made aware of this activity. MPAC will continue to brief police departments to inform them of threats to Muslim communities and identify best practices to keep mosques secure.
On September 12, 2026, Peter Hamilton Northup, 79, was carrying a firearm when he threatened to kill 4 Muslim men outside Troy Public Library after they identified themselves as Muslims. Northup had 22 registered firearms in his name. Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald has charged Northup with 4 counts of aggravated hate crimes. We advise communities to reach out to their local police if they face any threats.
Jake Lang’s Associates Get Released
On August 22, 2026, far-right anti-Islam activist Jake Lang and his associates led a demonstration outside the Minneapolis City Hall. The Minneapolis Police arrested 10 people, along with Lang, in connection with the demonstration. The individuals were subsequently released from custody.
On October 4, 2026, Lang will lead a Crusader March on Little Palestine in Chicago.
Eoin Richard Staged Another Anti-Islam Rally
On August 23, 2026, Los Angeles-based activist, Eoin Richard Connolly, attempted to hold a “Take Back LA” rally. Connolly then held a “Stop Jihadism: Los Angeles” rally on September 22, 2026 at the Islamic Center of Southern California where Mayor Karen Bass was speaking. He also went to New York to take part in Jake Lang’s anti-Islam rally on September 11, 2026.
