Our Impact

1st Amendment Center

Serving as both a rapid-response and thought-leadership hub, the Center confronts the growing wave of First Amendment violations and coordinated efforts to suppress free expression and religious freedom. Through research, strategic engagement with policymakers, and coalition-building, we safeguard civil liberties across college campuses, public schools, workplaces, and public institutions, ensuring every individual's right to speak, believe, protest, and participate freely in civic life.

Recent Victories:

Harvard Students Exonerated – Led national advocacy securing dismissal of all wrongful charges against Ibrahim Bharmal and Elom Tettey-Tamaklo, who faced baseless Assault and Hate Crime charges for peaceful protest

UCLA Center X Partnership Renewed – Organized coalition efforts and community mobilization that successfully defended LAUSD's ethnic studies partnership against organized opposition

VCU Degrees Reinstated – Coordinated social media campaign and sustained advocacy pressure resulted in Virginia Commonwealth University reinstating the degrees of two students penalized for pro-Palestine activism
