‘Salam Neighbor’ acceptance speech — 2016 MPAC Media Awards

MPAC’s 25th annual Media Awards honoree, “Salam Neighbor,” is an award-winning documentary that gives us a never-before-seen view into the lives of Syrian refugees.

Seven miles from war, 85,000 Syrians struggle to restart their lives inside Jordan’s Za’atari refugee camp. A first-of-its-kind, “Salam Neighbor” follows two filmmakers, Chris Temple and Zach Ingrasci, who fully embed themselves in the camp, providing an intimate look at the world’s most dire humanitarian crisis. They uncover inspiring stories of people rallying, against all odds, to rebuild their lives and those of their neighbors. The film puts a face to the refugee crisis and has sparked critical debate among lawmakers, news media and communities around the country to assist Syrian refugees.
