Updates from MPAC staff and our positions on policies and media that impact American Muslims.

  • We’re Saving You a Seat

    August 31, 2017
It’s almost that time of year! Our 17th Annual Convention is on Sunday, November 5th at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. We’re questioning what it means to be American. Since the 2016 election, there seems to be no universal answer, with increasingly dividing views on religion, race, and politics.

  • 10 Years of Building Tomorrow’s Leaders

    August 23, 2017
In 2007, we organized our first Young Leaders Summit to create the next generation of American Muslim leaders in policy, news media and Hollywood. Invest in the future of a more vibrant America with a donation of $100 to our Young Leaders programs. See pictures from this year’s Summits below.

  • Step 1: Fire Steve Bannon

    August 17, 2017
Finally, Stephen Bannon is out! President Trump just announced that he is removing Bannon, self-described architect of the alt-right, as his chief strategist. In partnership with Bend-the-Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice, we petitioned Trump to remove Bannon from the White House because of his hateful rhetoric.

  • America Has Been a Beacon of Hope

    July 4, 2017
As we commemorate Independence Day, we reflect on our nation’s origins and the values that contributed to the founding of America. We are challenging our nation to continue the pursuit of the principles enshrined in the Declaration of Independence. It is our sacred duty to protect and stand up for one another - this is what it means to be an American.

  • The final countdown

    June 14, 2017
We are in the final stretch of this blessed month. I hope that for those observing, it has been one of spiritual renewal. The Islamic and American values of freedom and equality motivate our work. At MPAC, #WeBelieve that we must work to ensure that these values are upheld for all Americans.

  • 129 Groups Urge Mayors to Disavow Anti-Muslim Marches

    June 9, 2017
Timed during the holy month of Ramadan when Muslims around the country are fasting during the daylight hours, dozens of anti-Muslim marches are planned for Saturday, June 10th across the country by ACT for America, the nation’s largest anti-Muslim hate group. These protests have been disingenuously branded “March Against Sharia” and explicitly target Muslims to instigate and divide us as Americans.

  • I've Been Reflecting

    June 6, 2017
I hope you are having your most peaceful and spiritual Ramadan ever. Personally, it is my favorite time of the year and an opportunity to reflect on the values that drive our work at MPAC. In Islam, establishing peace requires that we truly desire to understand and accept others, and at MPAC #WeBelieve that authentically engaging others makes the greatest strides toward mutual understanding.

  • Getting to Work Early

    May 31, 2017
I don’t know about you, but for me it takes a few days to adjust to Ramadan. Waking up earlier, going to bed later, and getting to work a few minutes early because I’m skipping my morning coffee run. While adjusting to this new routine takes some time, the real adjustment is a renewed focus on reflection and spirituality.
