Middle Eastern writers make up only 0.3% of the total employment in writers’ rooms, yet these stories have been told by others for decades. MPAC’s Hollywood Bureau and the WGAW Middle Eastern Writers Committee share the goals of increasing Middle Eastern writers’ representation and bolstering more accurate, authentic portrayals of Middle Eastern people in film and television. In this panel discussion, we will provide the industry with tangible steps to achieve these goals and highlight both the seasoned and emerging Middle Eastern writers who are ready to fill those roles.
Presented by the Muslim Public Affairs Council – Hollywood Bureau and the WGAW Middle Eastern Writers Committee. Moderated by Lorraine Ali, TV and culture critic of the Los Angeles Times.
