A long-standing tradition on university campuses, students advocating for Palestinian human rights and calling for university divestment from Israel face immense backlash, including smear campaigns, doxxing, character assassinations, and violence. Troublingly, pro-Palestinian students are often falsely labeled as supporters of terrorism, conflating Zionism with anti-Semitism, and portraying their peaceful activism as a national security threat. This dangerous precedent targets individuals solely for their political beliefs, fostering a climate of fear, hostility, and self-censorship on campuses. They face harassment by counter-protestors and law enforcement, as well as threats and disciplinary actions from university administrators, impacting their careers and future prospects.
