The Muslim Public Affairs Council Elects Safiya Ghori-Ahmad the new Chair of its Board of Directors

The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) is proud to announce the election of Safiya Ghori-Ahmad as the new Chair of its Board of Directors. With extensive experience in public affairs, government service, and strategic advisory roles, Ms. Ghori-Ahmad is uniquely positioned to advance MPAC’s mission to promote understanding and policies that benefit American Muslims.

Ms. Ghori-Ahmad currently serves as Senior Director at APCO Worldwide, leading global public affairs efforts in Washington, D.C. Previously, she worked as Senior Managing Director at McLarty Associates, advising Fortune 500 companies on international policy and strategy. Her government service includes roles with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the State Department, focusing on South and Central Asia.

A former Director of Policy at MPAC, Ms. Ghori-Ahmad has deep roots with the organization. During her time with MPAC, she played a key role in advocating for policies that protect civil liberties and promote justice for American Muslims. This connection reflects her long-standing commitment to MPAC’s mission and vision. She is strategically placed to transition MPAC into a new phase of growth and impact. 

An Arkansas native, Ms. Ghori-Ahmad holds a JD and MA from the University of Arkansas. She brings a global perspective, fluency in multiple languages, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion that aligns with MPAC’s values.

The election of Ms. Ghori-Ahmad follows the leadership of Noor Zubeida Khan, MPAC’s outgoing Board Chair. Ms. Khan’s dedication and support has positioned the organization for continued success. Her leadership has strengthened MPAC’s capacity to engage with communities, government, and the media, leaving a lasting legacy of resilience and progress; she will now assume the role of Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors.
