On Monday, April 2, MPAC along with more than a dozen prominent advocacy and interfaith groups in Southern California released an open letter addressed to University of California, Irvine, Chancellor Michael Drake, urging him to take immediate action in removing the university’s Board of Trustees Member Dr. Hazem Chehabi. Chehabi continues to hold the highest diplomatic seat in the U.S. as a representative of Syria's brutal al-Assad regime.

Today, MPAC offered condolences to the family and friends of the victims of a Shia mosque attack in Brussels, Belgium. The mosque attack, which happened earlier this week, resulted in extensive property damage and the death of its imam, Abdullah Dadou, all due to sectarian divisions. According to reports, the arsonist acted alone and identified himself as a Sunni Muslim, entering the mosque shouting Sunni slogans. -

MPAC today condemned the intentional killing of Afghan civilians by a US soldier. The soldier reportedly left the US base in the middle of the night and entered a village, opening fire on civilians who were sleeping. The atrocity ended in the murder of several people, including nine children. -

On Feb. 23, 2012, MPAC met with senior Department of Defense officials, including representatives of U.S. Central Command, to discuss the recent Quran burning incident in Afghanistan. During the meeting, DOD officials delivered a formal apology from Gen. John Allen, Commander of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.
