    Yesterday, MPAC submitted statement for the record at the Closing Guantanamo: The National Security, Fiscal and Human Rights Implications, held by the Senate Judiciary’s Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights. The statement emphasized the necessity for the prison to be shut down in the name of our national security, fiscal security and moral standing in the international community.

  • MPAC Condemns Brutal Murders over Sectarianism in Egypt

    June 24, 2013
    MPAC condemned the brutal murder of four Egyptian Shia Muslims, who were killed in an act of mob violence on Sunday in the Giza province outside of Cairo. Egypt has a rich history of intra-faith harmony, and this attack sets a dangerous precedent for the country and the region. Furthermore, it underscores the need for American Muslims to be vigilant against sectarian vigilantism in the U.S.

    MPAC congratulates Masjid Alnoor, the Islamic Center of South Bay, for reaching a historic settlement with the City of Lomita through the intervention of the Department of Justice. Following an inquiry raised by MPAC, the DOJ opened a case, which led to this week’s ruling that the City of Lomita violated the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000 (RLUIPA) when it denied the Islamic center’s application to build a new mosque on its property.
