The Syrian revolution has been ongoing since March 2011, but after the formation of a coalition of Syrian opposition groups in Doha on Nov. 11 known as the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces (NCSROF), MPAC views this development with hope for the future of Syria.

  • MPAC to Launch NYC & DC Metro Ads Opposing Racism & Bigotry

    On Monday, Oct. 22, the NYC subway system will feature ads by MPAC, which is an effort to counter the recent hateful and divisive ad released by Pamela Geller’s organization, AFDI. One week later, on Monday, Oct. 29, the Metro system in DC, will post the same ads on WMATA buses across the DC, Virginia and Maryland areas.

  • MPAC Condemns Taliban Attack on Pakistani Teenage Girl Fighting for Education

    MPAC today condemned the Taliban’s appalling attack against Malala Yousafzai, an innocent 14-year-old girl in Pakistan, who was advocating for education. Malala was shot in the head by the Taliban for being a girl and standing up to unjust policies and oppression for the past three years through her BBC blog.

  • Tennessee Ruling against Mosque Construction is a Ruling against Religious Freedom Across America

    Rather than upholding the precious values and laws written in the Constitution, this week, a judge in Tennessee ruled against the building of a mosque in Murfreesboro, TN. The First Amendment unequivocally states that government is prohibited from establishing a national religion or denying Americans their right to exercise (or not) their faith.

  • MPAC Condemns Killing of Afghans by U.S. Soldiers

    March 11, 2012
    MPAC today condemned the intentional killing of Afghan civilians by a US soldier. The soldier reportedly left the US base in the middle of the night and entered a village, opening fire on civilians who were sleeping. The atrocity ended in the murder of several people, including nine children.

  •  MPAC Applauds Supreme Court Decision to Uphold Religious Freedom

    On Jan. 11, 2012, the United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of the church in Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and School v. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), one of the most important religious freedom cases. The Supreme Court ruled that the government cannot tell religious institutions who they can hire and fire, essentially commanding noninterference by the government into faith-based institutions when it comes to matters of employment issues.

It also announced the release of its new position paper on the issue, entitled "No Compulsion in Religion: A Faith-Based Critique of the 'Defamation of Religions' Concept."

  • MPAC Submits Amicus Curiae in Support of Hosanna Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church

    MPAC has been following the EEOC v. Hosanna-Tabor case intently as this is a matter of religious freedom, protected by the First Amendment. Moreover, the case holds such monumental significance that MPAC submitted an amicus curiae, or “friend of the court” brief, in support of the Church.
