MPAC is committed to a sustainable and vibrant pipeline for leadership development in public service for American Muslims. For nearly a decade, through our flagship Youth Leadership pipeline, we have actively recruited, nurtured, and developed brilliant young minds who have grown and achieved important milestones for our community. By fostering engagement in government service and to creating a pipeline for young American Muslims to careers on the Hill, in Federal agencies, and at firms, think tanks, and other organizations that work on issues affecting American Muslims, our program develops Muslim youth who are interested in careers in civic service, and provides training to take on formal leadership roles, and perhaps run for public office. While they learn about the inner workings of government, their increased, influential presence among decision-makers in Washington brings all of us closer to a stronger, more inclusive America.
MPAC’S internship program allows students to work on issues on a national scale, such as national security and civil liberties, religious freedom and human rights, and human security. Every internship focuses on supporting MPAC’s mission to improve public understanding and policies that impact American Muslims by engaging our government, media, and communities.
Our ten-week program is focused on ensuring our fellows get the complete D.C. experience, one which includes serving as an intern in a congressional office, access to exclusive seminars with senior congressional staffers and policy leaders, as well as extensive career preparation, resume-building workshops, and a professional photoshoot for LinkedIn headshots. The program includes a stipend, housing in Washington, an internship on Capitol Hill or a federal agency, leadership and professional development classes, networking and community service activities. MPAC’s Public Policy fellowship teaches enhanced advocacy skills, mechanisms, and provides hands-on experiential learning in the field. Fellows engage in direct advocacy on policy and gain valuable insights and experience designed to fortify their employment opportunities in government.
The Public Service Fellowship expands opportunities beyond the Hill to applicants that seek to further enhance their credentials in Public service through a 10 week internship in a Government agency or Department. Like CLDP, the fellowship is offered at zero cost to the fellow and provides housing and stipend.
Participants receive full-time placements in an entry-level position with offices in Congress and/or the federal government. Participants also expand the breadth and depth of their experience, vastly increasing their opportunities for the next stage in career advancement. Program alum serve as mentors to incoming cohorts and support their growth and reach as aspiring public servants.
Invest in MPAC’s work to improve public policies and perceptions. We’re changing how America views Islam and Muslims.
