Want to Develop Your Leadership Skills & Make a Real Impact in Your Community?

May 2, 2014

Join MPAC at Masjid Gibrael in San Gabriel, CA on Saturday, May 10, for an I Am Change workshop with Edina Lekovic, Director of Policy and Programming, and Abeer Gaber, I Am Change Los Angeles Fellow.

“I Am Change” is an interactive three-hour workshop which empowers American Muslims to advocate for issues they care about and develop the necessary skills to become vocal and active citizens. In the past, MPAC held more than 50 “I Am Change” workshops across the country, including New York, California, Virginia, Massachusetts, Ohio, Kansas and Texas.

Through this workshop, you will learn how to effectively engage with public officials about domestic and foreign policy issues. You will also gain a deeper understanding of how the local, state and federal government functions and your role in advocating at each level.

Plus, you’ll be introduced to American Muslims who are successfully working for change every single day and making a difference. "I Am Change" is about active citizenship and embracing our rights as American Muslims to work with decision makers in our local communities, in our state legislatures and in Congress to shape better policies.

This workshop is one of the products of MPAC’s SoCal Community Leader’s Lunch held in March. Many community leaders came together and shared their desire for MPAC to bring programs to their mosques. This is the first product of that and was initiated by Riaz Khan of Masjid Gibrael. We hope there are many more to come.
