Dayton, Ohio was buzzing with MPAC spirit recently when two dynamic events were held to highlight the latest campaigns MPAC has launched in 2010. MPAC President Salam Al-Marayati and members of the Washington, DC office Haris Tarin and Alejandro Beutel were featured in two events at the Dayton Mercy Society and University of Dayton.

The weekend started with an "I Am Change" workshop at the Dayton Mercy Society. The I Am Change Civic Leadership Program is MPAC's national initiative to empower Muslim Americans to deepen their knowledge in public affairs and community organizing.

More than 30 community members were trained on various skills including how to navigate local, state and federal government to ensure that voices from our community are heard; effectively developing and delivering messages around key policy issues such as health care, the economy, foreign policy, civil rights and utilizing practical tools to build strong partnerships with other community groups; and working with a diverse group of people on the issues you care about.

The next day, Salam Al-Marayati and Alejandro Beutel were hosted by the University of Dayton Political Science Department to share MPAC's recent publication "Building Bridges to Secure America: Forging an Effective Counterterrorism Enterprise between Muslim Americans and Law Enforcement."
