The feature film Jinn, which was released in theaters on April 4, takes a concept that is familiar to over a billion people and introduces it to mainstream entertainment. Jinn touches upon a concept that is well-known to the three major religions: Islam, Christianity and Judaism.

The film, written and directed by Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad was produced by Ahmad, Benjamin Dresser, Alan Noel Vega and stars MPAC Media Award Honoree Faran Tahir (“Elysium”) and Dominic Rains (“Flight 93”), Serinda Swan (USA’s “Graceland”), Ray Park (“Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace”) and William Atherton (“Die Hard”).

The success of this film will open the doors for American Muslims to find their voice in media, the arts and entertainment and paves the way for Muslims to own their narrative. “Jinn” for the first time in Hollywood, allows for this while still being accessible to Western movie-going audiences.

“As a filmmaker, I want to create new heroes. I want young people to be able to walk away from my films and say, 'I want to be like that man' or 'I want to be like that woman, Ahmad said, who participated in MPAC’s 2012 Hollywood Bureau Summit.
