There are 24 hours left until MPAC's “Raising Voices of Courage and Conscience,” a special tribute to philanthropist and hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons at USC’s Ronald Tutor Campus Center Ballroom, featuring a great line up of performers.

The program will start promptly at 6 p.m. so please allow yourself about 30 minutes to park and find the Ronald Tutor Ballroom.

Here are some things you need to know to make your evening go smoothly:

Location

University of Southern California
Ronald Tutor Center Ballroom
3607 Trousdale Pkwy
Los Angeles, CA 90089

Tickets

Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online until 10 a.m. tomorrow morning. A limited number of tickets will be available for sale at the door on a first-come first-served basis until we reach capacity. (USC students w/ ID are free but must also register online.)

Parking & Campus Map

Parking on campus is $10 and can be purchased at one of 4 parking booths (see map at right). We suggest that you enter through Gate 3 located off Figueroa St. at McCarthy Way (between Jefferson and Exposition) and request parking for Parking Structure X. The remaining gates can be entered from Jefferson Blvd (2 structures)  and Vermont Ave (1 structure).

We have included a map here of the campus to help you find your way - and will also have volunteers located near each parking structure to help guide you to Tutor Ballroom. You can also request a map at any of the parking booths. Tutor Ballroom is part of the USC Tutor Campus Center, and is located in the basement of the building marked “Sample Hall."

What to Expect During the Event

Doors open at 5:45 p.m. with seating being available on a first-come first-served basis. The program will kick-off promptly at 6 p.m. and will feature tribute performances from extremely talented Muslim artists, including comedian and political commentator Dean Obeidallah, poet and recording artist Amir Sulaiman and Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna.

MPAC President Salam Al-Marayati will present the “Voice of Courage & Conscience” Award to Russell Simmons, and then they’ll sit down for brief and frank conversation on race and religion in America and where we are headed as a country.

An Extra Surprise!

We’re also excited to announce that we have a special performance to close the evening. Straight from Simon Cowell’s “The X Factor,” AKNU is a high-energy trio of brothers from Los Angeles with astonishing moves and incredible vocal talent performing original material and popular hits.
