Obeidallah, an award-winning comedian, just released the documentary “The Muslims Are Coming!” which he co-directed and co-produced. The film features a tour of American Muslim comedians performing free comedy shows across the heartland of America in the hopes of fostering understanding and dispelling misconceptions about Muslims through laughter. “The Muslims Are Coming!” is now available on iTunes.

Obeidallah has appeared on “The Axis of Evil” comedy TV special, which aired on Comedy Central and Showtime Arabia. He is also the co-creator of Comedy Central.com’s critically acclaimed web series “The Watch List” featuring a cast of all Middle Eastern American comedians performing stand up and sketch comedy.

Sulaiman, a poet, recording artist and intellect, got his first big break in 2005 when he was featured for two seasons on Simmons’ popular series “HBO Def Poetry Jam.” Since then, Sulaiman has been touring the U.S. and worldwide performing in countries including England, Belgium, Senegal, Malaysia and Australia. Sulaiman recently published his first book of poetry, "Love, Gnosis & Other Suicide Attempts," which has been met with critical acclaim.
Sulaiman's latest album, "The Opening," is scheduled to be release on Eid al-Adha, and is the third album in a trilogy project, which includes "The Meccan Openings" (2011) and "The Medinan Openings" (2012).

MPAC is proud to honor Simmons for his efforts to promote the voices and talents of Muslim artists on mainstream outlets. He also has been a strong advocate for confronting bigotry and promoting acceptance and understanding of Islam and Muslims.
