MPAC Organizes Phone Banking Efforts in Critical Last Weeks of Presidential Election
October 17, 2008
As part of its "Rock the Muslim Vote" initiative, the Muslim Public Affairs Council will be organizing phone banking efforts in cities across the country as the presidential election enters its crucial last stage.
Volunteers will be calling registered Muslim American voters in the key battleground states of Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania to encourage people to vote, to ensure that they know the location of their polling place, and to inform voters about key issues using MPAC's "Activate 08" election guide. These issues include national security and civil rights, immigration, the economy, the Iraq War, healthcare, and U.S.-Muslim world relations.
Phone banking has been scheduled for the dates and locations provided below. Volunteers will be given a phone banking kit with an issue-focused script to use when calling voters.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the person listed for each site. MPAC is asking that you commit one hour to calling voters within the times listed below. Remember to bring along your cell phone; MPAC will provide snacks and refreshments.

This presidential election season has already proven historic not only for the candidates but for Americans as well. Across the country, record numbers of people are first-time voters, campaign donors, and activists. Phone banking is an easy way and a great opportunity to engage in political activity and to meet other Americans who want to have an impact on this year's election.
Act now to volunteer your time in these last few weeks and make a difference by connecting with Muslim American voters in key battleground states.
