Listen Now: Media Forum on Muslim-Jewish Relations at UC Irvine
May 11, 2010
MPAC President Salam Al-Marayati
On Monday night, MPAC President Salam Al-Marayati participated in a panel discussed hosted by NPR affiliate KPCC's news talk show AirTalk host Larry Mantle. Listen to the conversation, which was aired Tuesday and also features Omar Zarka (recent graduate of UCI & former President of the Muslim Student Union), Isaac Yerushalmi (former president of Anteaters for Israel), and David A. Lehrer (President of Community Advocates Inc.).
During this lively discussion, the panelists tackled the complex issue of how does the Israeli-Palestinian conflict impacts relations among members of the Jewish and Muslim communities of Southern California?
The event took place to address the aftermath of Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren's visit to UC Irvine, which was interrupted repeatedly by 10 student protesters who were later arrested.
MPAC is working diligently on the case, and has met with the various stakeholders involved in the case - from the Chancellor of UC Irvine, to the UC Irvine chief of police, to the Orange County Human Relations Commission.
