Working with Law Enforcement to Uphold Our Civil Liberties
September 2, 2012

In the past year, American Muslims and people of Arab and South Asian descent have faced many challenges with law enforcement. Training materials in numerous federal government agencies were reported to contain derogatory statements toward Muslims, and the Federal Bureau Investigation and the New York Police Department were both found to have conducted detailed, wholesale surveillance of Islamic centers, Muslim student associations, and other Muslim groups.
Speakers will discuss what steps our community organizations have taken to work in dialogue with government to repair this situation and how session participants can participate in this effort.
