Are you frustrated by the portrayal of depiction of Arabs and Muslims in American media and Hollywood? Does it anger you when you see or hear Islam denigrated? Do you think those negative stereotypes should be socially acceptable? They are!

Join MPAC for a screening of "Valentino's Ghost" in Anaheim, CA, on Friday, Nov. 15. Learn the reality of what lands on the big screen, and what you can do to bring about change.

Narrated by actor Mike Farrell, "Valentino’s Ghost" examines the ways in which America’s foreign policy agenda in the Middle East drives the U.S. media’s portrayals of Arabs and Muslims.

The film lays bare the truths behind taboo subjects that are conspicuously avoided, or merely treated as sound bites, by the mainstream American media: “Why do they hate us?” “Why do we hate them?” What were the events that led to the 9/11 attacks? What are the politics behind the U.S.-Israeli relationship?  Why is there a robust debate about these subjects in Europe, the Arab World and in Israel itself, but not in the U.S.?

Don’t miss out on seeing this informative documentary. Admission is free, and DVDs will be available for sale for $20. Currently, they are not available anywhere else.

PBS paid six figures to make it, yet refuses to air it.  The tiny outfit National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) is airing an abridged 56 min version sporadically here and there.  American distributors won't touch it.   Lots of foreign film festivals are playing it.  But no A-list American festival will show it.  Two of the sponsors want their names taken off.  The filmmakers have refused.
