MPAC Promotes Unity & Civic Engagement at Orange County EidFest

August 7, 2014

Last Saturday, MPAC took part in Orange County’s Annual Eid Festival held in Anaheim, CA. Attended by thousands celebrating the end of the month of Ramadan, the event featured table displays from dozens of organizations, as well as their efforts in providing a celebration for the holiday. It was a great opportunity for Muslims, as well as non-Muslims, to learn more about Eid and Islam.

A stage was set up for several performances and speeches, which showcased groups and organizations' talents and announcements. Hundreds of families in the Greater Los Angeles community attended the event. MPAC was one of the organizations represented in the festival, with a booth containing literature and giveaways listing the basic outline of the organization’s goals and programs.

Additionally, MPAC’s Community Outreach Fellow Marwa Abdelghani was given the opportunity to address the crowd. She thanked the organizers of the Eid Festival for “putting on such a beautiful event and allowing the community to come together even though we’re going through very difficult times in the Middle East.”

She also shared the overall goals of MPAC and the need for American Muslims to be involved in the community, including investing in the emerging generation of young Muslim leaders through its annual Summits programs.
