The Muslim Public Affairs Council announced today that Congressman Andre Carson (D-IN), the second Muslim member of Congress, will be a special guest at the MPAC - New York City Benefit Dinner at the City University of New York on Friday, February 27th. Congressman Gregory Meeks (D-NY) and Amy Goodman, host of "Democracy Now!", will also serve as keynote speakers during the special event.
Since its launch in March 2008, MPAC-NYC has been hard at work conducting media outreach, working with coalition partners on civil liberties issues and holding a series of public education events. Help MPAC-NYC in working towards the integration of Islam into American pluralism, now and for generations to come by attending this exciting dinner, art auction, and political discussion.

Congressman Andre Carson is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana. He served as a member of the Indianapolis City-County Council before winning a special election on March 11, 2008, to become the Congressman for the 7th District of Indiana. Congressman Carson currently serves on the Financial Services Committee, which oversees all components of the nation's housing and financial services sectors including banking, insurance, real estate, public and assisted housing, and securities. His agenda includes working to create economic opportunity, pushing forward comprehensive affordable healthcare legislation, working to responsibly bring an end to the war in Iraq and to restore America's role as a respected global leader.
Congressman Gregory Meeks (D-NY) has served the people of New York's Sixth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1998. He currently serves as a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee. On foreign policy, Congressman Meeks seeks to promote policies that strengthen America's national security and build relationships with other nations in a more globalized world. He is a strong supporter of diplomacy and as such is a co-chair of the Dialogue Caucus in the House of Representatives.
Amy Goodman is the co-founder, executive producer and host of Democracy Now!, a national, daily, independent, award-winning news program airing on more than 450 public broadcast stations in North America. Democracy Now! provides listeners with access to people and perspectives rarely heard in the U.S.corporate-sponsored media, including independent and international journalists, academics, activists and ordinary people from around the world who are directly affected by U.S. foreign policy. Goodman is also co-author of Standing Up to the Madness: Ordinary Heroes in Extraordinary Times (2009), Static: Government Liars, Media Cheerleaders and the People Who Fight Back (2006) and The Exception to the Rulers: Exposing Oily Politicians, War Profiteers, and the Media That Love Them (2004), which ranked as one of the top 50 nonfiction books of 2004 by Publishers Weekly.
