“The Green Wave” focuses on the 2009 Iranian presidential elections, which were supposed to bring about a change. Contrary to expectations, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won re-election over challenger Mir-Hossein Mousavi, who became the symbolic figure of the Green Revolution.
The film, by Ali Samadi Ahadi, interweaves animated scenes, real footage and social media clips to illustrate these dramatic events and describe the Iranian people’s initial hope and curiosity, their desperate fear and their courage to continue to fight.
