Last month, Dr. Jack Shaheen, a giant in our community passed away. Dr. Shaheen was a pioneer and did the heavy lifting when it came to confronting the industry on the vilification of Arabs an Muslims in Hollywood. While he was an Arab Christian, Dr. Shaheen worked tirelessly to defend Muslims and the image Islam in the media. All the work that is being done to reduce stereotypes and improve storylines by various Arab organizations and MPAC's Hollywood Bureau is additive to Dr. Shaheen's work. He cracked the door open for us. God rest your soul, Dr. Shaheen and give your family strength during this difficult time.

We will be holding a tribute for Dr. Shaheen on August 23 at 6:30 pm at the Islamic Center of Southern California. RSVP at hollywood@mpac.org. Space is limited.
