This Saturday, July 6, at 11 a.m., MPAC's Salam Al-Marayati and Edina Lekovic will present an "I Am Change" workshop at Islamic Education Center of Orange County (3194 Airport Loop Drive, Costa Mesa, CA 92626).

The "I Am Change" workshop is about active citizenry. It's about embracing our rights as Americans to advocate for our local communities, to be heard in our state legislatures, and to shape better policies in Congress.

Are you sick of hearing government officials, media pundits, and elected leaders talk about Muslims ... but never bothering to take the time talking with Muslims?

Do you sometimes wish you had the confidence and ability to speak with public officials about the domestic and international issues you care deeply about and wish you could change directly?

Do you wish that you could make them care about the issues you care about enough to finally do something about them? Do you hope and pray for change? Are you ready to be a part of that change?

We can bring you one step closer to empowering our communities to make that change. MPAC has created a unique program that empowers American Muslims all around the country to stand up and advocate for the issues we care about with effective skills and life-changing knowledge.

Give us three hours and we'll give you:

  • Knowledge on how to promote civic engagement with our unique Islamic narrative alongside members of your community

  • A deep understanding of how local, state and federal government operates and the role you can and will play at each level

  • Effective skills in how to communicate your passion for the issues you care about with public officials and the media

  • The stories of inspirational Muslim Americans who are working for the change they envision to see. The stories of people like you who decided they would never take no for an answer.

If you are in the area, join us on Saturday.
