Reflections on the 10th Anniversary of September 11, 2011
For our generation September 11, 2001 will forever remain in infamy. On this date a depraved band of zealots unleashed the most vile form of hate upon our nation and committed the most atrocious and wicked crime of mass murder in the history of the United States.
As patriotic American Muslims, our condemnation of these heinous crimes is unequivocal and without any reservation. We stand united with all our fellow citizens to defeat the scrooge of terrorism comprehensively and with no compunction.
American Muslims are incredibly offended and appalled that these criminals maligned a faith, which is above all, vehemently opposed to such evil and wickedness.
Ten years on, we reflect on the innocent victims fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives who lost their lives on that fateful day. We grieve with their families and friends on this day of remembrance.
We remember the following innocent souls from Western New York who left for heavenly abode leaving behind families and friends grieving at the colossal loss:
World Trade Center (North Tower) Brandon J. Buchanan Michael Canty Leonard M. Castrianno H. Joseph Heller Stephen Hoffman Shai Levinhar Christopher E. Lunder Michael P O'Brian Daniel Robert Nolan Todd Pelino Patrick Salamone |
World Trade Center (South Tower) FF Michael Lynch FF Robert Foti Lt. Paul T Mitchell FDNY Ret. Philip T. Hayes Sean P Rooney (South Tower 2) FF Christopher Santora FF Dennis Scauso Margaret Walier Seeliger Jeffrey Shaw Eric Thorpe Melissa Vincent |
Pentagon David Laychak |
United Flight 175 (South Tower) Amy KingMichael Tarrou |
American Airlines Flight 77 (Pentagon) Renee May |
Our hearts and minds are with the survivors of this outrageous barbarity and we hope and pray that they will find some solace in the fact that the entire country stands firmly united with them on this anniversary.
We salute the brave men and women in uniformed services and the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice and , day in and day out, perform acts of heroism to maintain American as the beacon of hope for the entire world and keep the dream of E Pluribus Unum (out of many, one) alive.
