Dr. Qazi Receives Leadership Award
April 20, 2011
Dr. Khalid Qazi, chairman of MPAC’s Western New York chapter, was recently awarded the Diversity Award by Leadership Buffalo for his outstanding community work and leadership style.
Dr. Qazi, a native of Kashmir, came to Buffalo in 1977 to practice medicine. Since that time, he has worked tirelessly towards promoting diversity and the advancement of civil rights for Muslim Americans, while striving to create a positive, constructive relationship with the business community, law enforcement, the media and our political representatives. In 2002, Dr. Qazi was named an “Outstanding Citizen” by The Buffalo News for becoming a “strong, reassuring voice of reason” after 9/11. He has continued to educate the region and create a bridge of understanding about the Muslim culture through his work with MPAC.
Dr. Qazi serves as the Director for the Internal Medicine Training Program for the Catholic Health System. He also serves on MPAC’s Board of Directors and the Kashmiri-American Council in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Qazi will accept the award at Leadership Buffalo’s eighth annual values awards luncheon on May 5.
