Interfaith Attendees Gather for 7th Annual Tent of Abraham

August 23, 2012

Earlier this month, MPAC-WNY celebrated its 7th Annual “Tent of Abraham" event, an interfaith dinner (breaking of the fast) and dialogue between Jews, Muslims and Christians in Buffalo, NY, that celebrates the holy month of Ramadan.

Before the event, many gathered together for the “Walk of Abraham," in which participants walked five, four or one mile from North Presbyterian Church, including stops at Temple Beth Am and Heim School. The walk finished at the community center at Masjid An-Noor, the final destination of the evening.

The spiritual event examined the ramifications of fasting, and everyone agreed upon the importance of a close relationship with God, prayer and fasting. The breaking of the fast, prayer and dinner followed the dialogue.

Sponsored by the Islamic Society of Niagara Frontier, the Network of Religious Communities, the North Presbyterian Church, the Congregation Shir Shalom and the Westminster Presbyterian Church, attendees were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or cash to donate to those in need.
