It’s Been a Busy Couple Weeks!

November 2, 2017

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for us. I want to share some highlights with you.

At a legal symposium at the UC Irvine School of Law, we brought together representatives from some of the largest law firms, local government, civil society, and communications to identify challenges facing the American Muslim community and developing coordinated legal and political strategies to respond to them.

We organized a policy forum with the Newseum in Washington, DC to address the status of blasphemy laws and religious freedom, and examine how some countries use these laws to stifle dissent.

We took collective action against the Muslim Ban, shared guidelines on religious freedom with the Department of Justice, and brought people, communities, and organizations together to discuss how we can improve policies affecting American Muslims.

We cannot afford to slow down our work in bridging our nation’s divisions on religion, race, and politics. At our 2017 Convention on Sunday, November 5, our goal is to transform spectators into participants in creating social change.

If you can’t attend our Convention, follow along with the hashtag #BridgingTheDivide on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We will share videos and pictures next week.

The action isn’t in the bleacher seats, it’s on the field of engagement.
