Families Are Being Torn Apart

September 26, 2017

Dear Friend,

Imagine being told that you could be deported from the only country you’ve ever known and sent back to a country you barely remember. Your family is ripped apart. That’s the fear weighing on the minds of nearly 800,000 young people, including undocumented Muslim youth. The Trump administration recently announced to end the protections of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

With your support, we will not stop until our elected officials enact policies that ensure all Americans, regardless of immigration status, feel safe and welcome.

Here’s what we’ve done:

  • We asked our supporters to pressure their elected officials to pass sanctuary-friendly policies at the local level.
  • We are highlighting stories of Dreamers, including Muslim Dreamers, describing their experiences and the obstacles they face.
  • We joined several coalitions in D.C. and Los Angeles focused specifically on DACA and are visiting legislators on the Hill to advocate for DACA and Dreamers.
  • We urged our supporters to implement our sanctuary movement resolution in their school boards, houses of worship, and local governments.
  • We worked to pass SB 54 California, which helps keep vulnerable immigrant families together and provides a model for the rest of the country.

Challenge unfair policies with a $25 gift

There are numerous reasons why people come to the US, under increasingly dire circumstances, without the required documentation. Our work ensures that policymakers understand that immigrants have been, and will always be, a vital component of America’s pluralism. You have the power to help with a $25 gift today.
