MPAC Congratulates President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Their Inauguration

We Are Hopeful for a More United and Harmonious America

January 20, 2021

Washington, D.C. | mpac.org | January 20, 2021 – The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) congratulates President Joseph R. Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on their inauguration. Today, they take their oaths of office to inaugurate what we hope will be an administration that mends a broken America and prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of every American. This was an election of many firsts, including record voter turnout from minorities across the nation, the most diverse presidential cabinet, and most notably, the first woman, and the first Black and South Asian American elected into the White House. They have been entrusted by Americans to lead this nation out of a landscape rife with divisive policies and rhetoric toward a united and harmonious America.

The long road to this day has been laden with partisan barriers and insurrectionist obstructions. Coupled with the raging pandemic, vaccine shortages, and an economic crisis which disproportionately impacts working class Americans and disadvantaged communities, the months between Election Day and Inauguration Day have felt like years.

We American Muslims are ready to serve the Biden administration in helping fight against the pandemic, alleviate the burdens of our economic strife, and counter hate with goodness. President Biden and Vice President Harris can accomplish far more than their predecessors if they live up to their promise to engage the American Muslim community and other minority and marginalized communities in their effort to to legislate on issues that directly impact us. We look forward to engaging with the Biden-Harris administration.
