A Seat at the Table for American Muslims

On the morning of January 3rd, Hoda Hawa, the Director of our D.C. office, and Adam Beddawi, our Policy Analyst, attended Speaker Pelosi’s event in honor of opening day for Congress. The swearing-in ceremonies for members were historic; the 116th Congress is the most diverse one in American history and includes two American Muslim women: Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib!

New Congress, New Change

As the new Congress kicks off the legislative year, we are continuing our engagement with Members of Congress and their staff on issues like:

• rescinding the Muslim ban;
• ensuring that every Representative and Senator rejects white supremacist violence and name the threat it poses to our safety and democracy;
• and placing American Muslim interns in Congressional offices as part of our Congressional Leadership Development Program (CLDP).

We can’t continue our work for the community without you and your support. We look forward to working with you as we take on these issues and more to ensure the health and vibrancy of our democracy through our civic and political participation!
