From MPAC intern to Policy Director

December 27, 2017

Dear Friend,

I still can’t believe that fourteen years ago, I was an intern at MPAC. Now I’m writing to you as the Director of Policy and Advocacy. I work at MPAC because I want to amplify the American Muslim voice in public affairs and engage directly with legislators, government agencies, and policy thought leaders to improve policies that affect us.

As 2017 comes to a close, will you support our work of pushing back against divisive policies? Please donate $250 towards our $100,000 year-end goal.

Watch us on national news media.

A few highlights from our policy team in the past few months:

  • We helped pass a Hate Crimes Resolution in the U.S. Senate, denouncing hate crimes against Muslims, Jews and other minorities to ensure all Americans feel safe.
  • We helped pass SB 54 California, the first bill in the nation, to stop vulnerable immigrant families from being torn apart.
  • We filed legal briefs challenging the Muslim Ban to ensure all Americans enjoy the same constitutional freedoms.
  • Our Congressional Leadership Development Program is producing fellows who now work as permanent staff in congressional offices. These young leaders are changing the narrative for Muslims in America.
  • I was selected as a Google “Next Gen Policy Leader” to amplify the American Muslim voice at the intersection of tech, policy and social justice issues.

Our team works everyday to ensure the American Muslim community always has a seat at the decision-making table. Please make a year-end gift of $250 to continue this important work.

Forward. Together. 30 years strong.

Hoda Hawa
Director of Policy & Advocacy
