Meet Judge Halim Dhanidina - Yes He Did!

Your Zakat Helps MPAC Serve the Cause of Justice and Equality for All

August 1, 2012

“Faith is what is found in the heart and confirmed by a deed,” said Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Indeed, actions speak louder than words, and that is the very essence of MPAC’s mission -- our team works year-round to protect your Constitutional rights, educate our fellow Americans on Islam, create better policies, develop leaders and sustain the future of Islam in America. While MPAC works year-round, this month is a special month apart from all, filled with countless blessings and rewards from The Almighty for our deeds.

When others think it can't be done, MPAC repeatedly shows it can be. We don't just talk about the day when Muslims will be an accepted and valued part of America; we work for it to become a reality now.

Meet Judge Halim Dhanidina - Yes He Did!

Whenever American Muslims feel unwelcome by elected officials and their government, MPAC shows them we have both the right and opportunity to serve our government. For the past three years, MPAC has advocated for the appointment of Halim Dhanidina as a superior court judge for the state of California. This spring, Dhanidani received a phone call that changed his life -- Gov. Jerry Brown's office called to notify him he had been named a judge to California Superior Court. With his success, Dhanidina shows we all have a place in civic life.

MPAC advocated for Dhanidina due to his outstanding record in California. Since 1998, he has completed high-level prosecutions of gang units and has served as a deputy district attorney in the LA county district office. Overall, Dhanidina has prosecuted more than two dozen murder cases, including six capital cases.

“I am grateful to MPAC for supporting me during this process," Dhanidina said. "I also thank Gov. Brown for the opportunity to contribute to the pursuit of justice as a Muslim and as an American. Above all, I am thankful to God for this achievement. As a judge, I hope to show the Muslim American community that there is a place for us to participate in all aspects of civil society. I also help to show members of society at large that people of all backgrounds can serve the public with honor and integrity.”

Help continue shaping this reality by investing in the MPAC Foundation right now with your zakat and tax-deductible donation.

"This tremendous step in ensuring California leaders accurately reflect the community’s present in our great state” said Aziza Hasan, MPAC’s Southern California Government Relations Director. With your support, we are ensuring American Muslims remain an integral part of America.

This Ramadan, your zakat can help us develop the next generation of responsible and inspiring leaders for our community and nation. Your gift of $1,000 will transform the life of one young American Muslim with an aspiration to make a difference in their community.

Make their dream a reality.

To seize this window of opportunity, we invite you to intensify your deeds and our work by helping us fulfilling MPAC's Ramadan Fundraising Goal of $315,000.

"The Prophet was the most generous of all the people, and he used to become (even) more generous in Ramadan," according to a hadith narrated by Ibn Abbas (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Together, let us seek God's favor by serving the cause of justice, peace, equality and dignity for all.
