This weekend, Altmuslim published the oped “Empowering the Community to Deal with Extremism in Our Mosques” by Salam Al-Marayati, President of the Muslim Public Affairs Council. The op-ed addresses the lessons learned from the Boston Marathon bombing and the need for us, the American Muslim community, to adjust our approach toward young people who express themselves in a troubling manner.

On Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, the Hollywood Journal engaged in a much-needed conversation on the low representation of Muslims in Hollywood by publishing “Changing the Narrative of Muslims in Hollywood,” an op-ed by Sue Obeidi, MPAC’s Director of Operations and the Head of MPAC’s Hollywood Bureau.

I appreciate Harman's suggestion that we build bridges with Muslim communities, but prominent counter-terrorism thinkers like Harman come across as out of touch with those communities when they suggest that we in the U.S. need to be more effective in arguing how Muslims need to convert to the right side.
