320+ Attend Los Angeles District Attorney Election Forum
November 15, 2011

On Nov. 2, MPAC co-sponsored a Los Angeles district attorney election forum with a number of prestigious minority bar associations in Los Angeles.
The event, attended by more than 320 people, gave the Muslim American community in L.A. an opportunity to connect with district attorney candidates and ask them to clarify their positions. One of the main concerns from those in attendance was the Irvine 11 case and how a newly elected DA would handle a similar situation.
The event covered by several media outlets, including Dragnet, LA Weekly and Metropolitan News, who slammed LA City Attorney Carmen Trutanich, the only candidate not in attendance.
The packed forum held at the Japanese American National Museum was followed by a reception.
MPAC is planning to host forums for the mayoral race in 2012. If you are interested in joining the planning process, please email Aziza Hasan, MPAC's Director of Southern California Government Relations at aziza@mpac.org or 323-258-6722.
