175+ Attend MPAC Election Viewing Party in VA

November 7, 2012

On the night of Election Day, MPAC held an Elections Results Viewing Party in Northern Virginia with more than 175 community members from all over the DC, Virginia and Maryland area in attendance. It was an inspirational night as American Muslims gathered to see history unfold and democracy in action.

In addition to watcing the results come in, MPAC President Salam Al-Marayati, along with Ahmed Younis, the Founder of Post Doc, and playwright Wajahat Ali, discussed the historical role American Muslims have had on the elections and what the future would look like for the community if either President Barack Obama or Gov. Mitt Romney succeeded in becoming the President of the United States.

It was a long night, but attendees sat patiently and on the edges of their seats as electoral votes came in state by state.
Those gathered witnessed the re-election of President Barack Obama, and then remained at the event until the wee hours of the morning when the 44th President took the stage and delivered his victory speech.
