DC Office Holds Muslim Millennials Forum on ISIS

October 31, 2014

Has ISIS affected your life in any way at all? Do you feel the need to condemn the actions of such violent groups? How do you respond to media narratives about American Muslims? These are just a sample of the questions MPAC policy analyst, Saif Inam, presented before a group of young Muslims in an unique conversation this past Saturday.

MPAC sponsored the event, Muslim Millennials: Discussions on Obstacles and Opportunities for Change, with local community group, MakeSpace and George Washington University’s Muslim Student Association. The panel featured Imam Suhaib Webb and young leaders from each respective sponsor, in front of an audience of 120 attendees, not including the audience watching at home through live stream. The event presented interesting themes, discernments and sincere calls upon the individuals and their communities to make a collective change to counter the ISIS threat.

At the end, MPAC's Haris Tarin closed the discussion with remarks of the manipulative tactics of ISIS, their deadly divisions and the importance of civic engagement amongst the Muslim community. Stay tuned for more announcements on upcoming panels, as MPAC partners with other organizations in DC to continue this dialogue.
