We are searching for a Development Director who will plan, create, and evaluate productive, high-quality, cost-effective solicitation efforts to recruit new donors, while retaining existing donors and expanding their contributions to MPAC Foundation. The Development Director will be working out of MPAC's Washington, D.C. office.
Job Description
- Leads advancement of strong, diversified fundraising programs through annual and long-term strategies and implementation, with particular emphasis on major gift cultivation at the six-figure level.
- Strengthens & maintains donor relationships; identifies and cultivates new donors; renews financial commitments of existing donors.
- Promotes major donor-centric approaches, well-timed solicitation schedules, and data-driven program strategy and analysis to increase revenue generation.
- Leads on the grant giving process; identifies and writes grant proposals offered by foundations and corporations.
- Maintains a portfolio of major gift / planned giving prospects, maintaining frequent contact with prospects, community leaders, and volunteers. Plans systematic, appropriate and effective solicitation strategies for major and planned gift prospects.
- Oversees the maintenance and expansion of the donor database for the organization.
- Works with Communications team to develop high quality material and manages donor communications tools such as newsletters and letters.
- Develops the appropriate level of internal communication, reporting and tracking of results.
- Leads the activities that will directly result in prospect identification, engagement and successful solicitations, including overseeing the board of directors, other staff, key supporters and volunteer's fundraising activities; leads the development team.
- Frequent travel is required.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred.
- Five plus years of experience. Demonstrated success in personally identifying, cultivating & soliciting major gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with donors, staff, and board of directors, both orally and in writing.
- Grant writing (corporate and foundations) experience is a must.
- Must be able to work well independently and in a team environment with all types of personalities; must be a self-starter.
