Shakeel Syed, Executive Director of the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California, delivered Dr. Hathout's speech, who was unable to attend in person.

"Sisters and brothers, peace be unto to you.

To all who dedicate their efforts to give a voice to the voiceless majority in our country, all of you who choose to be on the side of the marginalized 99 percent of our people, all of you who will stand in peaceful and loving anger against the legacy of inequity and indifference... I salute you, I envy you and I am in prayer with all of you.

I ask God to help us to be the agents of justice and to express our devotion to Him in actions for healing the broken hearts and empowering the seekers of truth. Amen."

The Rev. James M. Lawson, Jr., Pastor Emeritus at Holman United Methodist Church; the Rev. Canon Malcolm M. Boyd, Poet-in-Residence for the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles; Dolores Huerta, Co-Founder of United Farm Workers; the Rev. George Regas, Executive Director of The Regas Institute; and Rabbi Leonard Beerman, Founding Rabbi of Leo Baeck Temple, all spoke about standing in solidarity with Occupy LA and the need for reform and change.
