Please join us for a roundtable discussion about the Japanese/Muslim American Experience, featuring MPAC's Marwa Abdelghani. This event was planned and organized by the members of HIST248: Modern Japan as part of our unit on the incarceration of Japanese and Japanese American during WWII by the US government.

This event aims to educate the public about the intersection between the Japanese and Muslim experience and spark a discussion about how we can avoid repeating history with current U.S. policies being implemented. 

The participants of this roundtable include two Occidental College students: Karim Sharif '18 and Rosie Yasukochi '18 and three Los Angeles based community leaders and activists: Phil Shigekuni, who was incarcerated at Camp Amache, CO, Tanzila "Taz" Ahmed, and MPAC's Marwa Abdelghani. This event is brought to you by American Studies, Center for Digital Liberal Arts, East Asian Languages & Cultures, Education, DWA, History, Politics, and Writing and Rhetoric.
