Islamic Center of SoCal to Honor Hamoui & Shinaishin at American Muslim Achievement Awards

The Islamic Center of Southern California (ICSC) will honor Omar Hamoui, the Founder of AdMob, and Dr. Osman Shinaishin of the National Science Foundation at its 20th Annual American Muslim Achievement Awards on Saturday, Jan. 21.

Since 1991, ICSC has recognized exemplary Muslim Americans who have made outstanding contributions to their work and to society at large. This black-tie event will take place at the Los Angeles Marriott Downtown.

Hamoui is an entrepreneur with deep roots in the mobile industry. After earning a degree in Computer Science at UCLA, he founded and ran several companies in mobile software and services. After many failed attempts, he created AdMob, which transformed mobile communications. It was sold to Google for $750 million in 2009. 

Shinaishin has published technical articles in acoustics and in non-destructive testing, and has made several presentations in the U.S. and abroad, about science and technology in developing countries in general and in the Middle East in particular. He has worked for the National Science Foundation's Office of International Science and Engineering as a Program Officer since 1993.
