Living by the Golden Rule: Is It Possible?

January 20, 2011

MPAC's Kansas Chapter has partnered with Global Faith In Action (GFIA) and the Scarboro Foreign Mission Society of Toronto to host a series of seminars in Wichita, Kansas, about the Golden Rule. Beginning this Sunday, Jan. 23, three seminars will be presented with special guest speaker author Paul McKenna about the implications of the Golden Rule and how to incorporate it into our lives.

The Golden Rule crosses traditions and philosophies, and it, in essence, creates a common bond among the religions of our world. For the first seminar on Sunday, “The Golden Rule and the Global Family,”  McKenna will discuss the simplicity, universality and power of the Golden Rule as a tool for becoming global citizens. For Monday’s seminar, “A Rule Made of Gold … Exploring a Universal Moral Principle,” McKenna will reflect on how the Golden Rule is rooted in a wide range of philosophies, religions and cultures, and if it is suited to become our “ethical cornerstone.” For the final seminar on Tuesday, “Catholics and the Interfaith Conversation,” McKenna will explore interfaith initiatives using facts, figures, story-telling and video.

For more information about the seminar locations and times, please visit the Global Faith in Action website, or contact GFIA at gfianow@gmail.com and 316.269.0635.
