June 5, 2014

Join MPAC Western New York (MPAC-WNY) on Saturday, June 7 at its annual banquet to celebrate its 10th anniversary as our largest, most vibrant chapter in the country. In addition to a keynote speech by MPAC President Salam Al-Marayati, the banquet will also present Community Service Awards to the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of New York William J. Hochul, innovator and activist Dr. Hodan Isse, and community activist and philanthropist M. Raheemuddin. Time is running out - buy your tickets here.

Dr. Khalid Qazi, who is MPAC-WNY’s Founding President and also serves on MPAC's board of directors, yesterday was honored with the Attorney General’s Citizen Volunteer Service Award during a private ceremony at the Department of Justice headquarters in Washington, DC, in honor of "his outstanding volunteer contributions to the department’s mission.”

“I just think that because Dr. Qazi has done so much to break down the barriers between the Muslim community and law enforcement, the time is right to honor him,” said Hochul of the award.

“The community started out as Muslims in America, but we have come to be American Muslims,” Qazi told the Buffalo News. “We have achieved an identity where we are proud Muslims and proud Americans, together.”
